SLOW WINE GUIDE 2022 - SLOW FOOD EDITORE
SLOW WINE 2022 GUIDE
Slow Food Editore – 1958 reviewed wineries. 750 wineries awarded as Top Wine.
LIFE – Our first thought goes to Albino Piona, who sadly passed away during this difficult year: it's now up to his offspring, Monica, Massimo and Alessandro, to continue his work. He has succeeded in making of his winery a reference point among the Garda wine culture. <<It's a team play, a nice play>>, Monica says referring to them and the support of Damiano Peroni, a young and worthy enologist.
VINEYARDS – Their 45 hectares are divided into four plots and are mostly dedicated to the grapes for Custoza and Bardolino. The morainic soils show different features: more clayey in Valeggio, with morainic gravel in Villafranca, alluvial-morainic in Sona.
WINES – Their wines are the fruit of a meticulous attention to the ripeness of grapes on the field: <<It's not a banal choice; it requires a huge attention, in particular for Reserve Wines>>, Monica says. The Pionas are constantly pursuing quality in the full respect of the grapes - even during the wine-making process, thus resulting in distinctive wines.
