Take art, its genealogy, its sense of hospitality, the gardenlike vineyards in front of the winery: a full range a reasons to go and visit the winery Albino Piona, which recalls a show-room. Placed in a particularly suited land and surrounded by the historical hills of Custoza wine, the winery invites you to taste its wine and take part in the various cultural events organized by Monica Piona, a painter who takes her “estro” (inspiration) from food and people (www.albinopiona.it). The December edition of the column Cantine e vigneti (about wineries and vineyards) is dedicated to sparkling wines. Therefore, we are introducing you to Estro Piona Blanc and Rosè, two award-winning sparkling wines at the recent 21st Sparkling Wine Festival – Rassegna Enologica Internazionale Spumanti e Frizzanti (International Sparkling Wine Festival) organized by ONAV Verona. The first, a Sparkling Wine Brut obtained by Martinotti Charmat method, shows a light, bright and shiny straw yellow color, a fresh and fragrant aroma, a sapid, harmonious and vibrant taste. All grapes are vinified separately, according to different maceration and fermentation time. Brut wine Estro Piona Rosè is another sparkling wine obtained from Corvina grapes, by Martinotti Charmat method as well, cultivated along the morainic hills not far from Lake Garda and Verona. Of a light pink color with bright and brilliant nuances, to the nose, it offers a fine and extremely elegant bouquet, fresh and fragrant, with scents of spring flowers - in the mouth, a pure explosion of taste. Its light acidity degree and the outstanding fragrance of the grapes result in a particularly soft and persistent aftertaste. Both are excellent as aperitif and go with all dishes, meat and fish as well, provided they are not too elaborated. Serving temperature 6 – 8 °C; alcohol 12–12,5% ABC
