1939 REVIEWED WINERIES – STORIES OF LIFES, VINEYARDS AND WINES IN ITALY
LIFE
The origins of this winery go back to 1893 when wine used to be produced to satisfy the needs of a family-run inn. Then, Albino Piona transformed it in a well-structured winery thanks to his commitment and passion starting from 1976. Nowadays, the winery is run by his offspring Monica, Alessandro and Massimo, respectively in charge of the store, of the sales and of the vineyards and the cellar – still under the careful guide and supervision of their dad.
VINEYARDS
Their vineyards are spread all around the winery, crossing different situations and denominations. The soil is predominantly of morainic origin, an ancient gift back to the formation of Lake Garda. The vines are cultivated mainly on a guyot base, granting a perfect supply of sun and air – not to forget the traditional arbors used for ancient vineyards which are still used for wine production.
WINES
<<Traditional wines giving relevance to their typical features>>, that's how Monica describes their wines. She introduces us to family Piona's interpretations of the territory.
Custoza 2019 VINO QUOTIDIANO - TOP WINE
An iconic wine offering a fine scent of hawthorn and a pleasant balsamic note first and a juicy, fresh and well-balanced palate then.
Bardolino Chiaretto 2019
Its pleasant and pale pink nuances give the pace to undergrowth and wild strawberry to the nose. The palate is tasty, clear and fresh.
Verde Piona
Refined on its lees, this wine is very attractive out of its green nuances, its fruity hints, its lively and creamy palate and an outstanding final acidity.
Azobè 2016
Delightful, fruity, opulent.
